Will a Brexit deal finally happen and attentions turn back to the health and social care crisis in the UK
It’s been a busy week as far as the country is concerned. With the general election finally over and with the conservatives winning a majority, it seems likely that a Brexit deal good or bad, however which way you look at it is likely to be reached in the not too distant future.
Since June of this year, we have been posting on our blog about how Brexit could be harming the health and social care sector, with everything at a deadlock in parliament it meant less time to debate on the vital issues that surround the crisis inside our health and social care services, further harming the sector.
If a Brexit deal can be reached this means we can now finally start to look at improving the crisis inside our social care system. In June 2019 we pointed out to our readers that by 2034 there would be a need for a further 20,000 carers in Wales by 2030, this is going to add further strain on the health and social care sector unless solutions to carer shortages are found.
It is also a fact that by 2034 there will be an extra 100,000 people living into their eighties, which again is going to provide further strain on the care system, from people needing more care especially more specific care. Earlier this month we posted about dementia care patients, and how they are going to increase in the future, these types of illness are only going to demand more from our health and social care services, so it is important that solutions are found now to help manage these increases in the future.
