Career opening at ProCare Nursing – Weekend Care Worker

We are currently looking to employ a number of weekend care workers. This role can lead onto other avenues in the health and social care sector and is ideal for those looking to gain experience or earn extra money.



Job description: Weekend Care Worker

Hourly rate: £9.00 per hour

Shifts available: Saturday and Sunday, between 7am and 10pm


Responsibilities include:

Basic function relating to companionship services


> Offer companionship and conversation

> Monitor diet and eating

> Provide medication reminders

> Stimulate and encourage through activites

> Arrange appointments and outings

> Organise mail and help produce correspondence

> Assist with walking (lending an arm)

> Accompany service users to appointments and social events

Basic function relating to Companionship Services


> Run errands / collect prescriptions etc

> Provide light housekeeping / complete laundry

> Make beds / Change linen

> Organise and tidy cupboards

> Plan, prepare and tidy away meals

> Answer the door

> Assist with pet care

> Help with shopping

Basic function relating to Personal Care Services


> Help with bathing, dressing and grooming

> Help with continence care

> Assist to eat and drink

> Provide dementia / Alzheimer care

> Provide respite / convalescence care


Person Specifications

Qualifications

> QCF Level 2 & 3 in a related field are desirable

> Willing to take part in training courses includine QCF courses as part of on-going development is essential

Experience

> Experience of interacting or working with elderly people either paid or un-paid is desirable

Knowledge and abilities

> Good Standard of oral and written English is essential

> Ability to support citizen in their own homes and maintain citizens independence is essential

> Ability to follow instructions and local policies and procedures

Additional Requirements

> A full driving licence is desirable

> Flexibility and willingness to work un-sociable hours including night shifts are desirable
