Purpose:
This course enables participants to gain a better understanding of how to provide lifesaving support to a casualty.
Course content:
• Role and Responsibilities of the First Aider
• Unconscious Casualty
• CPR
• Shock / Anaphylaxis shock
• Choking
This course can really help save someone’s life; it can also prevent a casualty occurring any further injuries while waiting for professional help to arrive at the scene.
For example, if someone is choking or in shock, or needs to be put into a recovery position, and you do not know what to do in the time it takes for the ambulance to arrive at the scene, then there can be serious risk that a person could suffer further injury such as brain damage being an example, what if someone is choking but you do not know how to dislodge the blockage, the person choking cannot breathe and therefore is starving the brain of oxygen which then can lead to serious brain damage.
These are the facts, we are not trying to scare you, but the NHS record thousands of emergencies and if people knew first aid skills our basic life support course teaches, then further injury is avoidable.
