Up to 1 million elderly people suffer abuse in the UK every year
When carrying out care for vulnerable people that includes the elderly you must ensure it is delivered to the highest standard. Neglection can be a terrible thing and can cost many elderly lives.
Firstly what does neglect look like?
Abuse of the elderly can take many different forms from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, other forms of abuse include financial abuse where the elderly can have their money stolen and theft is committed.
The charity Elder Abuse in 2018 published some alarming statistics on their blog. The charity estimates that there are up to 1 million victims of elder abuse each year in the UK, that is a staggering statistic which has led to the charity campaigning for tougher penalties against those who get convicted of elder abuse.
Switching to ProCare Nursing can help reduce abuse statistics
We are a health and social care agency that passionately care about the care sector. Our offices are based on Cowbridge Road East in Canton pictured below.
We provide care support workers to private homes, residential homes and to Mental Health units in Cardiff and the South Wales area. Our care support workers are fully trained to carry out domiciliary care to the highest standards ensuring senior citizens live a dignified life.
Our care support workers are all trained from our in-house facilities and go on to be certified to QCF standard level 2 in care support work. Here are a few photos of recent training courses being held this last week, the first course is mandatory training in care support work where things like CPR are taught and other wide ranging topics.
The photos below show a PMVA course, PMVA stands for Prevention Management Violence Aggression. This course teaches carers how to take care of themselves in the event of patients being aggressive and when conflict arises.
The course teaches restraint techniques and how to defend yourself in the event of physical violence carried out by the service user.
ProCare Nursing have been established for over twenty years
We have been working in the health and care sector for over twenty years years and were founded in 1997. In this time we have gone on to provide award winning care, we put forward our senior Care Support Worker Sara Wells for an award at the Wales Care Awards in 2017, Sara went on to win the “Excellence in Dementia” care category. Here is Sara pictured below furthest right with her award at Cardiff City Hall along with her certificate.
At ProCare Nursing we have all of the facilities and office workers ensuring that all the needs of the service users are met. Our coordinators pictured below ensure that care support workers are on time meeting the domiciliary needs of the service users.
We don’t want to see these statistics of elder abuse increase, we are determined at ProCare Nursing to provide care support workers who are just as passionate as we are in providing first class care to elders. Get in touch with us if you believe that the agency you are using is not providing the adequate domiciliary care needed to ensure the welfare of your loved ones, we are here to put that right.
